How old do I have to be?
- For a Student Pilot Certificate (required to solo) 16 years old
- For a Private Pilot License – 17 years old
Are there other requirements?
- You must be able to read, write and understand English
- You must pass an FAA medical exam
- You must pass a written knowledge test
- You must pass an oral and practical flight test
How long will it take?
- Depending on how often you fly (2-3 times per week is recommended) which at this pace, you should complete the program in 4-6 months.
How much does it cost?
- This will vary depending on frequency of lessons, motivation and study habits. As a rough estimate, you can expect to spend $6,500 training in a C-152 and roughly $8000 training in a C-172. The good news is that it is a pay-as-you-go program, so you don’t have to have all the money upfront.
How long until I can fly by myself?
- The time to solo varies by student. In general, you can count on your first solo somewhere between 15 to 20 hours.
Is financing available?
- Yes! We offer financing options through Sallie Mae. Applications are available in the office.
Do I have to attend classes?
- No. With our Cessna Interactive Study Courses, most of your studying can be done on your home computer at your convenience with very little one-on-one ground school lessons with your instructor.
What can I do with my Private Pilot’s License?
- The sky is the limit. You can take yourself and your family or friends to virtually any airport in the country.
